Who are Kids Club Kampala?
We’re an award-winning children’s charity with a Christian ethos, working across East Africa. Our vision, mission and core values are at the heart of everything we do to help vulnerable children in East Africa.
About East Africa
East Africa is one of the poorest regions in the world, with almost half of the total population living in extreme poverty. Millions of children are vulnerable to harm, abuse, and abandonment due to poverty. Teenage pregnancy affects almost a third of girls in East Africa, and the risk of child marriage has risen rapidly over the past 5 years.
Unemployment is high, with over 10 million people projected to be jobless by 2025, leaving families struggling to survive. Many rely on just one meal a day as food insecurity and undernourishment remain widespread. The lack of access to education and skills training perpetuates a cycle of poverty, making it difficult for families to generate the income needed to survive. Climate change and conflict are making life even harder, particularly for vulnerable children. Without urgent action, poverty will continue to hold millions back.

About us
Our vital projects provide for both children and their family's immediate needs and strengthen their futures through Child Protection, Access to Education and Family Strengthening. We work with in-country partners, who lead and implement projects that are a lifeline to some of the most vulnerable children in the world. We are currently supporting over 300,000 children and families, but the global cost of living crisis means our vital services have never been more needed.

We are passionate about empowering children and families and helping them to survive and thrive!

Guiding principals
1
God-centred
Kids Club Kampala is an organisation founded on Christian beliefs and values. It’s our faith that motivates us to love all people and to serve the poor. Everything we do is not for personal gain, but for the benefit of those living in poverty that we support. We seek to work with like-minded people to help vulnerable children achieve their God-given potential.
2
Child-focused
We value all children and uphold the rights of the child in all that we do. All of our programmes and projects focus on bringing hope, love and positive outcomes for vulnerable children’s lives. We strive to help all vulnerable children regardless of religion, ethnicity, gender or background.
3
Community led
We empower local people to be active in their own development and to make a difference in their own communities. We believe in asking people what their needs are and how best we can help them, and giving people the space to come up with creative solutions themselves.
4
Family based
We believe that the best place for a child is to be within a loving family. We passionately advocate for family based care. We do not support the institutionalisation of children in any way. We speak up for those who can't, giving a voice to the voiceless. To do this, we must be communicating and engaging at all levels - from telling individual stories to advocating on behalf of those we represent.
5
Positivity
We let children to just be children, through having fun and creating a positive environment while keeping them safe. We commit to only sharing positive stories of change in our external marketing and communications. We take a positive ‘can do’ approach to our work. Our staff and volunteers take the time to have fun and socialise together.
